Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ
House Rules
Can I bring a bicycle on the Badner Bahn?
Unfortunately, bicycles are not permitted on the train or bus due to space and safety reasons. Folding bicycles may be brought on the Badner Bahn if they are already folded before boarding. At many Badner Bahn stations, bike-sharing services, covered bicycle parking facilities and lockable bike garages are available.
Can I eat and drink on the Badner Bahn?
Please be considerate of other passengers and avoid eating strong-smelling or greasy foods. This also applies to food and drinks that may soil or damage the vehicle.
Can I listen to music or play music on the train?
Playing loud music, performing music, or causing excessive noise is not permitted on our vehicles. Please use headphones when listening to music and make sure not to disturb other passengers.
Can I bring my dog, and does it need a ticket?
Of course, you can bring your dog. For the safety of other passengers, dogs must be kept on a leash and wear a muzzle. If you have an annual pass, your dog travels free of charge. Otherwise, a reduced fare “Einzelfahrt HUND” (= Single Ticket DOG) must be purchased for larger dogs. Small dogs transported in a suitable carrier travel free of charge. Assistance dogs (guide dogs, service dogs, and signal dogs) with a valid entry in the disability ID card also travel free of charge.
Discounts & Tickets
At what age do children need a ticket?
Children travel free of charge on Wiener Lokalbahnen services until their 6th birthday. Between the ages of 6 and 15, reduced fares apply to single and day tickets. The most affordable option for children and teenagers is the TOP Youth Ticket. It is valid on all public transport in the Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region (Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland). It is valid on all days including weekends, public holidays and school holidays. Holders of an ÖBB VORTEILSCARD Youth also receive discounted fares on the Badner Bahn.
Can I use the Badner Bahn with my Wiener Linien annual pass?
Yes. Within Vienna’s core zone, the Badner Bahn can also be used with a Wiener Linien annual pass. The core zone boundary extends to Vösendorf–Siebenhirten station. For travel beyond this station, an additional ticket is required.
Does the Badner Bahn go to the SCS (= Shopping City Süd) and do I need an extra ticket?
Yes, the Badner Bahn runs to the Shopping City Süd (SCS). Please use the stop “Vösendorf Shopping City Süd”. From the Vienna city centre, the SCS can be reached in approximately 30 minutes without changing trains.
The SCS is located outside Vienna’s core fare zone. If you are travelling from Vienna and already have a valid ticket for Vienna, you will need an additional ticket from the core zone boundary at Vösendorf-Siebenhirten to Vösendorf Shopping City Süd (it is one stop). The Klimaticket is valid on the Badner Bahn.
Is the Westfield Club Card (App) valid as a ticket?
Yes. Holders of a Westfield Club Card (formerly World of SCS Card, SCS VIP Card, or SCS Employee Card) may travel free of charge on the Badner Bahn between Vösendorf-Siebenhirten and Vösendorf Shopping City Süd, including up to two accompanying passengers.
This also applies to the digital Westfield Club Card in the Westfield app and the digital SCS Employee Card in the URW Connect app. During ticket inspections, the card or app must be presented immediately. Retrospective proof is not accepted.
As Vösendorf Shopping City Süd lies outside Vienna’s core fare zone, passengers without one of the above-mentioned cards must purchase an additional ticket.
Other Information
Can I use the Badner Bahn as a wheelchair user?
Yes. The low-floor TW500 trains provide two wheelchair spaces that are fully accessible. Our modern TW400 low-floor trains are equipped with a wheelchair lift. Our drivers are trained to operate the lift and will be happy to assist you as you board and exit the train. For safety reasons, only one wheelchair space is available per TW400 carriage.
At least one low-floor carriage (TW400 or TW500) is available on every service. On the digital departure displays at our stations, low-floor trains are marked with a wheelchair symbol. The first carriage shown on the display is always the front carriage in the direction of travel.
Is there air conditioning on the Badner Bahn?
Our modern TW400 low-floor vehicles have upgraded climate-control systems. The new TW500 trains are fully air-conditioned.
